Welcome Parents & Caregivers to the 2024-25 School Year

Dear Parents and Caregivers of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District,

Welcome back to School! We hope your summer was fun and relaxing. As we enter the new school year, the SPF Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG) has some reminders as well as announcements that we would like to share with you.

First, as we’re coming off of summer and Extended School Year (ESY), we would like to gather feedback on your ESY experience and your communication with the district from June 2024 through September 2024. Please visit our feedback page if you’d like to share with us.

As we’re gearing up for this year, please take a moment to check our calendar for all of our meetings this year. We hope to see you either in person or virtually. We will continue our standard of having two meetings this school year that are dedicated to only parents and caregivers to have open discussions about our programs, special services and all things SEPAG-related. As always, the notes taken here are anonymous and shared with the Department of Special Services (DOSS) and the Superintendent. As in years past, we anticipate they will continue to give us answers to the questions and feedback we share with them, as well as action items they will work on based on the feedback shared.

If you are interested in joining the SEPAG or becoming more involved, please come to any of our meetings, and check our website for information regarding participation, meeting minutes, our monthly meeting schedule, DOSS updates, and community resources.

In order to ensure that you are receiving the correct information and to protect your child’s and your confidentiality, we want to direct you where to submit comments or questions about the SEPAG and DOSS so that it will reach us. Please make sure to only fill out district supported SEPAG forms, surveys, or feedback pages that come from SPF-SEPAG, DOSS or our website.

When following us on Social Media, please understand that we are only affiliated with “The SPF Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG)” on Facebook (LINK). We are an ADVISORY group only. Any and all other social media pages and groups are not part of the SPF SEPAG and information gathered or shared via other social media outlets or surveys are not endorsed or recognized by the district, nor can the confidentiality of the information shared about you or your child be guaranteed. If in doubt, please email spfk12SEPAG@gmail.com to ensure it is coming from the SEPAG.

Our first meeting is set for 7PM on Monday, September 16 at Terrill Middle School and we offer the ability for parents to connect virtually as well. Details of this meeting can be found on our meeting page. We hope to see you then.

Thank you,

SPF SEPAG
