SPF SEPAG COMMUNICATION FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 30th

Hello SPFK12 SEPAG Families and Caregivers!

On Monday, September 16, 2024 at 7pm, the Scotch Plains Fanwood School District Special Education Parent Advisory Group (otherwise known as the SPF SEPAG) held its first meeting of the 2024-2025 school year at Terrill Middle School in the Media Center. The meeting was well attended, and the Executive Board looks forward to a great school year building on our collaborative relationship with the District. If you weren't able to attend last Monday's meeting, the SEPAG Meeting minutes from prior meetings should be posted by the end of the week here

The last district Back to School Night will take place tonight at the high school. If you would like to provide us with any feedback about your BTSN experience that we can share with the district, please email us at the email below. Clubs, which are a great way to enhance your child's social skills, have begun at our middle schools! For a list of clubs at Nettingham, click here. For the list at Terrill, click here.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's education that you would like us to raise with the district, or if you just need some parental support on this journey (psst, come to the meetings!), the Executive Board members, Peter Falco (President), Suzanne Schneider (Co-President), Leilani Fevrier (Public Relations Coordinator), and Beth Greisman (secretary), can all be reached at: spfsepagk12@gmail.com. We are working on bios so you can all get to know us a bit better.

As always, please visit our website for more information on all things SEPAG, as well as links to various resource organizations for excellent training and webinar offerings. For example, on October 8th, SPAN is offering a workshop entitled: "Family Engagement: Literacy and Family Engagement" to empower families with the tools and strategies to boost their children's reading skills and foster successful student outcomes. Register for this engaging training here.

Our next meeting will take place on October 7, 2024, at 7pm, in person in the Terrill Middle School Media Center. Virtual participation is also available by clicking on this link at the scheduled date and time: Meeting Link. The topic of next month's meeting will be post-high school plans, which will be very relevant for those families with children beginning their final year and meeting with guidance departments about future plans. A representative from the Montclair State University Disability Resource Center as well as our very own Mr. Loggia from SPFHS's Guidance Office are scheduled to speak, but please know these speakers are subject to change based on circumstances beyond our control.

Hope to "see" you at the meeting on October 7th!

Best,

SEPAG Executive Board
